What are we?

The Derby Beach Marine Sanctuary is the first community-based marine conservation initiative in the northern parish of Trelawny, Jamaica. We are currently home to the area’s first coral reef conservation project, growing extremely rare corals in underwater nurseries in order to restore their populations.

We are also working towards the establishment of a formal no-fishing zone to allow fish populations to recover and benefit our local artisanal fishing community.

Learn about coral evolution and asexual husbandry from project co-founder Hosang.
