On December 29, 2025, Felix Charnley, Research Lead at the Derby Beach Marine Sanctuary, discussed Trelawny’s coral reefs which showed unexpected resilience after Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, recording a 100% survival rate in nurseries.

Following an in-person visit, this technical report elaborated by the Maguá Ecological Foundation establishes a fish sanctuary and reef management roadmap tailored to DBMS, based on ten years of experience in the Dominican Republic.
